It’s that time of year when we adults can turn ourselves into crazed adolescents without for a moment thinking we are acting immaturely. Yup. Halloween brings out the worst in us. Aargh! So why stop now? To help celebrate the season we are bringing you three sublime cocktails with added creepiness.
Bloody Brain Bludgeoner
1 shot of Peach Schnapps
1 teaspoon Baileys Irish Creme
1/2 teaspoon Grenadine
Pour the Peach Schnapps into a cordial glass. Drizzle a teaspoon of Baileys Irish Creme into the Schnapps in a slow stream. Then drizzle the Grenadine in little bloody drops on top of the Baileys Irish Creme.
Be sure to have a couple drinks under your belt before you drink this. The texture of coagulated Baileys is scary. It’s best enjoyed if you are about 18 I think.
And now for the more mature palette….
Port Tacked Eyeball
1+ ounce of Port
2 Lychees
2 maraschino cherries
Pour a glass of Port into a cordial or martini glass. Slip a maraschino cherry into a lychee. Do it again. Spear both eyeballs onto a cocktail skewer, place into the glass of port and serve.
Macabre Martini
2 ounces Gin
Dry Vermouth
Crushed Ice
2 marinated mushroom caps
1 pitted Kalamata olive
Cut the stems out of the mushroom caps. Cut the olive in half and place each half into the mushroom cap. Skewer the “eyeballs” onto a cocktail skewer.
For one drink, chill a martini glass. Pour a little bit of dry vermouth in a chilled martini glass and swirl to coat the inside of the glass. Dispose of excess vermouth. Fill a cocktail shaker full of ice. Pour the gin into the shaker and gently shake for 10 seconds. Strain into chilled glass.
